I am trying to decide between 4610/460 FEL combo (4wd,HST,R4,Dual Mid Service, Single Rear Service)$19,380+$3495=$22,875 OTD and 5205/521 FEL combo (4wd, Dual Mid Service w/Joystick, Single Rear Service,R4,telelinks,Folding ROP) $20,425+$3540=$23,965 OTD. I think I am going with the muscle over features. Do these prices sound fair? Local has great reputation.

What are you going to use the tractor for? I don't think the 5205 has a hydro trannie available so that may be a factor if you are doing lots of back-and-forth work (loader, etc). The SynchReverser is easy to use but not as easy as a hydro. The 5205 is a lot heavier - that is great if you need the weight, not so great if you don't (muddy conditions, turf, etc). The 5205 also has a Cat-2 hitch instead of the 4610 Cat-1 hitch. I don't know if implement prices jump a lot when going from Cat-1 to Cat-2 but it might be a consideration. The 5205 is a little beefier but may not be quite as comfortable as the 4610. ....

The 5205 is much more of a tractor, and with the amount of property you have I don't think you would go wrong with that model. ....

Question are you trying to out do the Jones or are you the Jones. A 5205 and a 4610 are both nice tractors. But it depend on what you will try to do with it the most. Loading or towing. Loading go with the hydro 4610 or a 4710, towing and raw HP the 5205. I used to run a 5210 and i own a 955, the hydro trans is great for loading, the sync trans is ok but your foot will start to hurt after pushing on the clutch 5000 times to change gears while loading. Its up to you, it your money. ....

I am using it to maintain about 75 acres of fire lanes, power and pipeline right of way, and roads in a large block of pine plantation timber. I primarily am mowing, clearing brush, piling blow downs, grading roads, and fixing culverts. I bought the 5205 and it is great. It replaced a 27hp CUT that was just too light. ....

Found this old thread an had to laugh, gottabegreen replied about outdoing the Jones, That killed me HE HE. Well I did about the same thing as the other fella. as it's been stated many times a compact will do about anything a small AG tractor will do if time is not a problem and that lead me to buy a 790,But after a bit over a year I found that time is imporant to a weekender like myself.I found that I started to beat the little machine to death trying to complete jobs I wanted done or couldn't do them at all.And also ABOUT is a the key word. A compact will NOT do everything a small AG can. ....
